Description

Bravo Company built the Gunfighter Compensator line around feedback from real end users, industry pros, and their own customers, and the Mod 5 is the longest version of that family. At a full 2 inches with a closed-tine face, it threads 1/2×28 onto any standard 5.56 AR-15 muzzle and gets to work reducing muzzle rise, flash signature, noise, and the side pressure that makes shooting next to someone miserable.

What sets this comp apart from a run-of-the-mill brake is how BCM tuned the slots and ports. There are no ground-facing openings, so when you drop into prone or work off a barricade you're not kicking a cloud of dust into your own face. The gas gets directed to fight muzzle climb and calm things down without throwing a harsh concussion out to the sides. Folks running these consistently mention how flat the rifle stays through fast strings and how much friendlier it is to be around compared to a bare birdcage.

Why the MOD 5 Runs Long

The extra length is the whole point. The Mod 5 is the extended version of the Mod 4, and that 2-inch body includes a predrilled hole at the base. That predrill is there to make pinning and welding to a 14.5-inch barrel a cleaner job, which is exactly why a lot of people reach for this particular model over the shorter comps in the lineup.

Built to Take the Abuse

The Mod 5 wears a nitride treatment for serious corrosion resistance and long-term durability under hard use. One thing worth knowing up front: BCM's compensators are designed to disrupt gas flow aggressively, so you may see small pits form on the interior surfaces over time. That's completely normal and by design, and these have been tested through many thousands of rounds without losing performance. Install calls for a thin wrench since a standard armorer's wrench is too thick, and BCM recommends a qualified armorer handle the job.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the MOD 5 and the shorter BCM Gunfighter comps?

The Mod 5 is the extended, 2-inch version of the Mod 4, so it's longer than most of the other comps in the Gunfighter lineup. That added length, paired with the predrilled base, makes it a popular choice for pinning to a 14.5-inch barrel. Performance-wise it shares the same tuned slots and ports designed to cut muzzle rise, flash, and side blast.

Will the MOD 5 fit my AR-15?

Yes, it's threaded 1/2×28, which is the standard thread pitch for 5.56mm AR-15 barrels. It ships with a crush washer for installation. BCM recommends using a thin wrench and having a qualified armorer install it, since a standard armorer's wrench is often too thick to seat around the comp.

Is it normal to see pitting inside the compensator?

It is. BCM designs these comps to aggressively disrupt gas flow, which means the interior surfaces take a beating and may show small pits over time. This is expected behavior and doesn't hurt performance, as the units have been tested through many thousands of rounds. The nitride finish helps the body hold up to corrosion and hard use.

Does the MOD 5 kick up dust when shooting prone?

No, and that's one of its standout traits. The design has no ground-facing openings, so it won't kick dust and debris up into your face when you're firing from prone or working off a barricade. The gas gets directed to fight muzzle climb while keeping side blast and noise more manageable than a typical compensator.
