What you're getting here is a hammer that's already done a lot of the hard work for you. The sear hooks are machined to .020-.022 inch height, ground square with crisp corners, so all that's left is a light final stoning to dial in that clean, predictable break. The half-cock notch is narrowed to help protect the sear from damage, and the strut pin hole is lowered to reduce full-cock spring pressure, which takes some of the fight out of cocking and contributes to a smoother pull overall.
The Commander-style spur is finely serrated for a positive grip when you thumb it back, and the larger opening lightens the hammer for a faster fall and quicker lock time. That's a real benefit if you shoot for speed or accuracy. The sides are narrowed to cut down on slide drag, and every edge is chamfered all the way around, including inside the hole.
