Description
The MDT ORYX Sportsman Chassis takes your factory Savage 110 short action and drops it into a machined block of aluminum that does what a plastic stock can't. The action beds directly onto an aluminum V-block and the barrel free-floats through the forend, which is exactly the recipe for tightening up groups and getting consistent results downrange. It fits right-hand Savage short action models and ships in a clean black finish that looks right at home on the range or in the field.
Where the ORYX Sportsman Earns Its Keep
This started life as an affordable way to get into precision rifle shooting without dropping serious money on a full competition chassis, and it delivers. The body is aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum, hard anodized to MIL-Spec Type III, with tough polymer side panels that shrug off weather and hard use. That rigidity is the whole point. When you settle in behind it and take up a sight picture, you feel a genuinely solid connection between you and the rifle. These chassis have carried people to first-place finishes in NRL Hunter, PRS, and rimfire matches, so it's got the resume to back up the pitch.
Setting Up the ORYX to Fit You
The buttstock adjusts for length of pull and cheek height, so you can dial the fit for a repeatable cheek weld and a natural reach to the trigger. It comes with one length-of-pull spacer already installed, and MDT sells a spacer kit if you want to stretch it out further. The forend runs M-LOK slots for bipods, slings, lights, or an ARCA rail, and it accepts standard AR-15 pistol grips so you can swap in whatever grip feels best in your hand.
Install and Feeding
Installation is about as simple as it gets. Pull your barreled action out of the factory stock, drop it into the ORYX, and torque down the two provided action screws just past snug. Beyond the accuracy gains, you also pick up detachable magazine capability, since the chassis runs short-action AICS-pattern magazines. Note that magazines are sold separately, so grab a couple to go with it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the ORYX Sportsman Chassis fit my Savage 110 short action?
This chassis is built for right-hand Savage short action rifles and works with the common action screw spacings found on those models. It's designed for centerfire short actions, not the Savage Axis. If you're running an older stagger-feed action, be aware some folks have had to lightly relieve material at the rear of the mag well opening for AICS magazines to seat, so check your specific action before you order magazines.
Does the ORYX Sportsman Chassis come with a magazine?
No, magazines are sold separately. The chassis has the magazine system installed and is set up for short-action AICS-pattern magazines, so you'll want to pick up one or two to run it. The upside is you're adding detachable box magazine capability to a rifle that came from the factory with an internal box mag.
How hard is it to install the ORYX chassis?
It's a genuine drop-in job. Clear the rifle, pull the barreled action out of the factory stock, set it into the ORYX, and torque the two provided action screws to about a quarter turn past snug. Most people have it done in a few minutes with a single Allen wrench.
Can I add a bipod, ARCA rail, or a different grip?
Yes. The forend has M-LOK slots for bipods, slings, and lights, and it's ARCA rail compatible if you want to run a tripod or clamp-style bipod. The chassis also accepts standard AR-15 pistol grips, so you can swap in whatever fits your hand best.
