Avian X made a name for itself with turkey decoys that fool the wariest toms, so it was only a matter of time before they put that same attention to detail into a choke tube. The AVXTKY07 is their 20 gauge turkey choke cut for the Remington Rem Choke thread pattern, machined from high strength tempered steel and wearing a black PVD finish that cleans up easy and shrugs off the abuse of high powered turkey loads. If you run a 20 gauge Rem Choke barrel and want a tighter core without stepping up to a premium price tier, this one punches well above where you'd expect.
The heart of this choke is its internal groove technology paired with straight rifling. The grooves help peel the pellets away from the wad early, while the straight rifling keeps the wad from spinning so it doesn't disrupt the shot string on the way out. The result is a denser, more even core of pellets landing where you're aiming, which is exactly what you want when a longbeard hangs up at 40 yards. Radical porting vents gas away from the shot string to keep things from blowing open, and the choke is rated for steel, tungsten, bismuth, and lead, so it plays nice with whatever TSS or lead loads you're feeding it.
Castle cuts on the crown do double duty here. They lock the choke solidly into the barrel so it stays put under recoil, and they act as exhaust channels to let gas escape quickly. The end face is polished for better seating and a cleaner seal inside the barrel, and the PVD coating means less scrubbing when you're wiping it down after a long morning in the woods. It's an extended, ported design, so it stands proud of the muzzle and is simple to thread in and out by hand.
Bottom line, this is a smart pickup for anyone running a 20 gauge Remington who wants to pattern tighter and reach a little farther without overthinking it.
This choke is cut for the Remington Rem Choke thread pattern in 20 gauge, so it fits shotguns that use that standard, like the Remington 870 and 1100 in 20 gauge. If your barrel uses a different system such as Winchester, Browning Invector, or Mossberg Accu-Choke, you'll want a choke matched to that pattern instead. Always double check your barrel's choke system before ordering.
It's rated for steel, tungsten, bismuth, and lead, which covers just about every turkey load on the market. That means you can run premium TSS loads or more affordable lead through it without worry. The tempered steel body is built to handle the pressure of high powered turkey loads.
This is a dedicated turkey constriction with a .665 inch bore, built to throw a dense, tight core for head and neck shots on toms. The internal groove technology and straight rifling work together to keep pellets concentrated on target at extended range. As with any choke, pattern your specific load at the distances you plan to hunt to confirm your point of impact.
Yes, it's an extended, ported design with radical porting that vents gas away from the shot string. That helps keep the pattern from blowing open and contributes to a tighter core downrange. The castle cuts on the crown also act as exhaust channels for gas to escape quickly.
