Description

If you shoot enough 12 gauge that buying factory shells starts to sting, the MEC 8567N Grabber is the press that pays for itself. This is a progressive machine, meaning it works on several shells at once and spits out a completed round every time you cycle the handle. Load a hull, drop a wad, and keep moving. MEC rates it around 12 to 16 boxes an hour once you get in a rhythm, which is plenty of ammo for a weekend of trap, skeet, or sporting clays without the trip to the counter.

What Sets the 8567N Grabber Apart

The Grabber runs ten operations across six stations. That includes sizing, depriming, priming, charging, seating, and the crimp, all happening in sequence as the carrier indexes with each loaded shell you pull off. The fully automatic primer feed holds over 200 primers and seats them for you, so you are not stopping to fiddle with individual caps. Auto-cycle charging drops your powder and shot measures automatically, which keeps the whole operation flowing.

Crimp and Resizing on the MEC Grabber

This is where the Grabber earns its reputation. The three-stage crimp handles the job in steps: the first station starts the fold, the second closes it, and the third puts a clean taper on the mouth so your finished shells feed smoothly. MEC's Power Ring collet resizer brings the brass or steel head back to factory spec on both high and low base hulls, so you get uniform, accurately sized rounds that run right in any gun.

Setting Up Your Grabber

It comes factory set for 2-3/4 inch shells and includes a 1-1/8 ounce charge bar along with three powder bushings in sizes 29, 30, and 32. The steel frame bolts down to your bench through four mounting holes and holds up to a lot of use. If you want to load 3 inch shells or switch to steel shot, MEC offers add-on kits for that. Built in the USA, this is a proven workhorse for clubs, competitive loaders, and anyone turning out serious volume.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many shells can the MEC 8567N Grabber load per hour?

MEC rates the Grabber at roughly 12 to 16 boxes an hour, which works out to a couple hundred-plus shells once you settle into a rhythm. Since it is progressive, every pull of the handle completes a shell. Your real-world pace depends on how dialed in your setup is and how steady you keep your hull and wad feeding.

Can the MEC Grabber load 3 inch shells or steel shot?

Out of the box it is factory set for 2-3/4 inch lead loads. MEC sells optional add-on kits that let you load 3 inch shells and convert for steel shot, but those are sold separately and not included with the press. The included charge bar is set up for 1-1/8 ounce of lead shot.

Does the 8567N Grabber come with everything needed to start reloading 12 gauge?

It includes the automatic primer feed, a 1-1/8 ounce charge bar, and powder bushings in sizes 29, 30, and 32, so the press itself is ready to run. You will still need your own components such as hulls, primers, powder, wads, and shot. A current reloading manual and data for your chosen load are smart to have on hand before you start.

Can I convert the MEC Grabber to another gauge?

No, the Grabber is a fixed-gauge press and the die sets are not interchangeable between gauges. This 8567N model is dedicated to 12 gauge. If you load multiple gauges, you would need a separate Grabber set up for each one.
