The Derya DY9Z occupies a sweet spot that the industry has started calling the "large micro" category — slim enough to carry all day, but with enough gun to spend a real session at the range. Built on a lightweight polymer frame with a black Melonite-finished steel slide, it packs 15+1 rounds of 9mm into a package that measures just 6.5 inches long, 5 inches tall, and 1.1 inches wide. At 1.25 pounds empty, it won't drag on a belt, and the bronze frame on this variant gives it a distinct look that sets it apart from the sea of all-black carry pistols. Derya describes the trigger as their Second Wind Trigger, featuring a defined wall, crisp break, and positive reset — and independent reviewers have backed that up, calling it one of the more readable striker triggers they have felt at this size and price range.
The optics setup on the DY9Z is a highlight. The slide comes cut for a direct RMSc footprint with no adapter plate required, which keeps the mounting low and the profile clean. Drop a Shield RMSc, a Holosun EPS Carry, or any other RMSc-compatible mini red dot right on and go. If you run it irons-only, the fixed sights offer a white dot front and U-notch rear that are compatible with Glock Slimline aftermarket sights, so you have options there too. The accessory rail on the dustcover means you can add a light or laser without any hassle. Toss in a reversible magazine release and three included backstraps in small, medium, and large, and this is a pistol you can genuinely fit to your hand rather than just making do.
The DY9Z ships with one metal 15-round magazine, and the platform is compatible with Glock 43X magazines for flush-fit carry. That is a meaningful detail — it means spare magazines are easy to source, and if you already shoot a 43X-pattern pistol, your existing mags can cross over. Built-in safeties include a firing pin block and anti-drop trigger block, and the 1:10-inch twist rate barrel runs standard 9mm loads without issue. The package also includes a cutout hard case, guide rod, cleaning rod, brush, and Allen key, so you have what you need to get started right out of the box.
No. The DY9Z slide is cut directly for RMSc footprint optics, so compatible red dots mount straight to the slide with no adapter plate needed. This keeps the optic lower and the overall height cleaner than plate-based systems. Sights like the Shield RMSc or Holosun EPS Carry will fit right up.
The DY9Z ships with one 15-round metal magazine and is compatible with Glock 43X magazines for a flush fit. Derya also produces a dedicated DY9Z magazine. This cross-compatibility is a practical bonus since 43X mags are widely available and easy to find.
They are very close in the grip area — the DY9Z is roughly comparable to a Glock 43X footprint with a shorter, G26-style slide. It measures 6.5 inches long, 5 inches tall, and 1.1 inches wide at 1.25 pounds unloaded. The shorter slide keeps the overall profile compact while the grip still gives you a solid purchase for control.
The DY9Z grip texture is functional and keeps things manageable, though some users who prefer an aggressive, almost skateboard-tape level of grip may want to add stippling or grip tape. The included S, M, and L backstraps let you adjust the grip shape to your hand, which goes a long way toward improving control and comfort during longer range sessions.
The DY9Z uses a firing pin block and an anti-drop trigger block — a passive, layered safety setup common to modern striker-fired carry pistols. There is no external thumb safety. This keeps the draw clean and the manual of arms straightforward, which is generally preferred for a dedicated carry gun.
The bronze on this variant is Derya's Midnight Bronze dyed polymer frame, which has a deep, understated metallic tone rather than a bright gold look. According to Derya, each frame color is formulated and injected in-house at their Turkish facility for consistent quality and wear resistance. The black Melonite slide finish provides solid corrosion and abrasion protection on the steel components.
