The Charles Daly CA612 Tactical is a 12-gauge semi-auto built around a no-fuss inertia-driven rotary bolt system. Where gas-operated guns have pistons, ports, and O-rings to worry about, the inertia system uses the energy of recoil itself to cycle the action. Fewer moving parts means less to go wrong, less fouling to deal with, and a gun that still runs when conditions get rough. The 22" steel barrel and aluminum receiver keep the overall weight at 6.7 lbs, which is noticeably light for a full-size semi-auto shotgun. Overall length comes in at 43.6", and the 3" chamber handles everything from standard 2.75" shells to full 3" magnums.
The receiver-mounted Picatinny rail houses an LPA ghost ring rear sight that's adjustable for windage and elevation, so you can dial it in for your preferred load rather than just guessing. Up front is a hooded fixed sight that pairs well with the ghost ring for fast, accurate target acquisition. The pistol grip synthetic stock is built for control and comfortable with a wide range of shooters, and the oversized bolt handle is easy to grab whether you're wearing gloves or not. A manual safety and single trigger system round out the controls, keeping things simple and straightforward.
The chrome-lined bore and chamber on this gun are worth calling out specifically. Chrome lining resists corrosion, cuts down on fouling buildup, and makes cleaning a lot less of a chore over thousands of rounds. The barrel is threaded for Beretta/Benelli Mobil chokes using the MC-5B system, which comes with Modified, Improved Modified, Full, and two Breacher chokes in the package. That's a versatile spread right out of the box, and because Mobil threading is one of the most widely used standards out there, compatible aftermarket options are easy to find. The matte black finish on the aluminum receiver and steel barrel is tough, corrosion-resistant, and won't throw a glare in the field.
The CA612 Tactical uses Beretta/Benelli Mobil choke threading, which is one of the most common standards in the industry. It ships with five chokes in the MC-5B configuration: Modified, Improved Modified, Full, and two Breacher tubes. Because Mobil threading is so widely adopted, you have a huge selection of aftermarket options from brands like Kicks, Carlson's, and Patternmaster.
Inertia-driven guns have fewer moving parts than gas-operated designs, which generally means fewer things to clean and fewer potential failure points. The system uses recoil energy to cycle the action rather than relying on gas ports, pistons, and valves. For a tactical application where reliability matters, that simplicity is a real advantage.
The 3" chamber is fully backward compatible with standard 2.75" shells, so you're not limited to magnum loads. Keep in mind that inertia-driven guns do generally cycle more reliably with standard or heavier loads, so very light target loads may occasionally short-stroke the action.
