It drops right into the SRD9, SRD45, MODX-9, and MODX-45, so instead of leaving your can on the shelf while your metric-threaded pistol sits in the safe, you swap one part and get back to shooting. It's also a popular route for running a 45-caliber SRD45 or MODX-45 on a 9mm host, which is a smart way to stretch one tax stamp across more of your collection.
Sig machines this piston from 17-4 heat-treated stainless steel and finishes it with a matte glass bead treatment, so it shrugs off the heat, carbon, and abuse that come with a booster assembly's job. The 13.5x1mm left-hand thread pitch shows up on plenty of factory threaded barrels from European makers, think HK and similar pistols, so if your muzzle threads spin the opposite way from the usual 1/2×28, this is the piece that bridges the gap.
No gunsmith required here. Unscrew the piston housing on your suppressor, pull the original piston, drop this one in its place, and reassemble. Match the piston to the barrel and you're done. Plenty of folks keep a couple of pistons in the range bag so one can jumps between hosts on the same trip.

Since 9mm fits through a 45-caliber bore with room to spare, swapping in this piston lets an SRD45 or MODX-45 mount to a metric-threaded 9mm host. You give up a little sound performance versus a dedicated 9mm can, but you get a lot more versatility from one suppressor.
It's a quick job you can do at the bench in a few minutes. Unscrew the rear piston housing on the suppressor, remove the existing piston, set this one in its place, and thread everything back together. No special tools or gunsmithing needed, just make sure the threads are clean and everything seats fully before you shoot.
