The barrel is where it starts. Black Rain uses a 16-inch 4150V chromoly barrel with a 1:7 twist, which handles everything from 55-grain FMJ to heavier 77-grain loads without complaint. The salt bath nitride-treated Spec15 bolt carrier group runs smooth and holds up to high round counts better than phosphate-coated alternatives. The whole thing runs on a proven direct impingement system with a .750 low-profile non-adjustable gas block, keeping the design simple and easy to service.
The 15-inch M-LOK slim handguard gives you plenty of room to mount a light, foregrip, or pressure switch without turning the rifle into a Christmas tree. 4150V is a vanadium-enhanced chromoly steel alloy that is a step up from standard 4140 in terms of hardness and wear resistance. Combined with a 1:7 twist rate, the barrel handles a wide variety of bullet weights well and holds up to sustained fire better than lighter barrel materials. It is a solid spec for a rifle in this class.
