The .32-40 Winchester is one of those old-timer cartridges that's tough to keep on the shelf, so if you shoot an 1885 Highwall, a Winchester 94, a Marlin, or one of the reintroduced single shots, handloading is really the way to feed it. This RCBS Group D full-length 2-die set is built specifically for the .32-40 and gives you the two tools you need to turn fired brass into fresh, accurate ammo.
The set pairs a full-length sizer die with an expander-decapping unit and a separate seater die with a bullet seater plug. The sizer brings your brass back to SAAMI minimum dimensions, resizes the outside of the case, punches out the spent primer, and expands the neck to accept the next bullet, all in one stroke. Vent holes in the sizer let trapped air and excess lube escape so you're not denting shoulders or crushing cases. RCBS holds headspace to minimum tolerances so the case body length stays put during sizing, which matters when you're stretching brass life on a cartridge that isn't easy to replace.
The seater die uses an adjustable bullet seater plug to dial in your seating depth and overall length, and it has a built-in roll crimper to lock the bullet in place as it seats. That roll crimp is handy for the .32-40 since a lot of these rifles run tube magazines where a solid crimp keeps things secure under recoil. The dies use the standard 7/8-14 thread, so they thread right into any common press.
