The Grip Pod GPS.02 solves a problem every rifle shooter runs into: you want a vertical grip for close-in control, but you also want a bipod when it's time to settle in and stretch things out. Instead of picking one, this unit gives you both in a single piece of gear. It rides on your rail as a full-size vertical foregrip, and when you're ready to go prone or shoot off a barricade, a push of the button sends the spring-loaded legs snapping down into a stable platform.
This is the military-issue version, and the internals show it. The bipod legs are hardened polymer over stainless steel, which is where the toughness comes from. Grip Pod's reputation for durability is well earned here, with the design proven to handle serious abuse under field conditions and adopted for use across U.S. military programs. The body itself is advanced reinforced polymer, so you get real strength without hanging a bunch of extra weight off the front of your gun.
Deployment is genuinely fast. The release button sits where your thumb naturally lands, and once you press it the legs are out and ready before you've even finished getting into position. Retracting is just as easy, you fold the legs back up into the grip body and you're back to a clean vertical foregrip. When deployed, the legs give you around 8.25 inches of height, which is enough clearance to run a standard 30-round magazine without it dragging the ground. Folded up, it measures about 5.75 inches closed and won't snag on brush or gear.
The GPS.02 mounts to any standard MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail using a steel cross-bolt and thumbscrew, so it locks down tight and stays put once you cinch it. The grip has a hand-filling shape with deep texturing that holds up even with gloves on or wet hands. It also plays nice with optional Grip Pod accessories like single or double light rails if you want to add a weapon light or laser down the road.
The legs are spring-loaded and stored inside the grip body. You press the release button with your thumb and the legs snap out instantly, ready to shoot. To put them away, you just fold them back up into the grip and you're running a standard vertical foregrip again.
