The MDT LSS Gen3 Tactical takes your Tikka T3/T3x short action and drops it into one of the most adaptable chassis systems MDT has built to date. It's a pre-configured kit, but the beauty is that it rides on the modular Gen3 core, so you get a ready-to-run rig out of the box that can be rebuilt for a totally different job down the road. Install is straightforward with no bedding or gunsmithing needed. Drop in your barreled action, torque the screws, and you're set.
At the heart of the system is a center base that mates to your Tikka action and stays put. Because the barreled action never has to come out, you can swap the forend, buttstock, or grip without ever losing your zero. The Tactical version comes dressed for work with an AR-15 style feel: MDT's Elite angled pistol grip with a soft overmold, a Carbine buttstock adapter that accepts any AR buffer-tube stock, and the SCS Skeleton Carbine Stock with toolless adjustments for length of pull, cheek height, and buttpad position.
The Gen3 base converts your rifle to standard AICS pattern magazines, and if your Tikka runs a blind or hinged mag, this brings it over to detachable AICS feeding. An ambidextrous mag release lets you drop mags with a push of the trigger finger, and there's a built-in barricade stop on the front of the magwell for locking into positions. The Tactical forend carries M-LOK slots across all five faces plus a top Picatinny section at the muzzle end for night vision or thermal clip-ons, giving you plenty of real estate for bipods, lights, slings, or weights.
Made for tactical use, truck-gun duty, or a do-it-all field rig, the Tactical isn't a featherweight build. It leans toward rugged and rigid, with a durable black Cerakote finish and a rock-solid fit that doesn't budge under pressure.
