MDT built the XRS for folks who love the shape and hand feel of a traditional rifle stock but still want everything a precision chassis brings to the table. Instead of the boxy, all-business look most chassis systems lean into, the XRS keeps a natural profile that shoulders and points like a classic hunting stock. Under those textured polymer side panels sits a full-length CNC-machined 6061 aluminum core, and the polymer wrap keeps your hands off bare metal when the weather turns hot or bitter cold. This particular version is cut for Savage short action, wearing a Flat Dark Earth finish that looks right at home in the field.
The heart of the system is the aluminum V-block bedding, which locks your barreled action in place for repeatable, consistent accuracy without any bedding compound or gunsmithing. Drop your action in, torque the screws, and you are shooting. Length of pull adjusts from 13.25 inches out past 15 inches using spacers, and the quick-adjust cheek piece lets you set your eye height so you land behind the optic naturally every time. It feeds from standard AICS pattern magazines through an ambidextrous latch that is easy to work from either side.
One of the nicest touches is the interchangeable grip system. MDT includes both a vertical grip and a swept-back angled grip in the box, so you can try each and settle on whatever suits your hand placement and trigger reach. The generous 12-inch forend is loaded with M-LOK slots, giving you room to hang a bipod, add an ARCA or Picatinny rail, sling studs, or whatever your setup calls for. The barrel free floats the whole way, which helps your groups stay honest.
At right around 3.9 pounds depending on the inlet, the XRS stays light enough for hunting yet stable enough for range days and practical precision work. It fits Savage models 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, and newer 110 short actions, with hardware included to cover both 4.27 and 4.4 inch action screw spacing plus top or bottom bolt release rifles.
