The factory M&P trigger gets the job done, but if you've spent any time behind one you already know the pull is mushy and the take-up drags on. Apex's Forward Set Sear & Trigger Kit fixes both. Dropping this into your M&P moves the break point farther forward than the stock assembly while trimming down the uptake and over-travel, so the trigger ends up feeling a whole lot like a 1911 even though you're still running a polymer-frame striker pistol.
The smooth-faced trigger body is machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and finished in black hard anodize, so it holds up to years of hard use. It ships assembled with a center-pivoting safety that keeps the factory safety values intact. The kit includes two trigger return springs, letting you dial in the weight to suit how you shoot. The silver spring lands you around 4 pounds and the green spring puts you closer to 5, which covers everything from range days to carry-gun duty. You get a clean, consistent pull straight through the break with a shorter reset waiting on the other side.
This is built for original centerfire M&P models in 9mm and .40, and it works across those frames and configurations. It is not made for the M&P M2.0, any Shield variant, the Bodyguard, or the .22 caliber M&P. One important detail folks miss: the kit requires the sear housing block designed for the large-size (1/8 inch) sear plunger and spring, which is current production from June 2011 onward. If your pistol predates that and still runs the smaller 1/16 inch parts, plan on grabbing an updated sear housing block so everything functions the way Apex intended.

No. This kit is made for original centerfire M&P models in 9mm and .40 only. It is not compatible with the M&P M2.0, any Shield variant, the Bodyguard, or the .22 caliber M&P. If you own a Shield or M2.0, Apex makes separate kits designed specifically for those pistols.
The kit ships with both so you can tune the pull to your preference. The silver spring gets you to roughly a 4 pound pull, while the green spring lands closer to 5 pounds. Lighter suits competition and range use, while the heavier option is a solid choice for a carry or duty gun.
This kit needs the sear housing block built for the large-size 1/8 inch sear plunger and spring, which has been standard production since June 2011. If your M&P was made before that date it may still have the smaller 1/16 inch parts, in which case you'll want an updated sear housing block before installing. Apex only guarantees proper function with the correct 1/8 inch components.
It's a drop-in kit that most people can handle at home if they're comfortable detail-stripping their M&P trigger group. The trickiest part is breaking down and reassembling the assembly, so take your time. Apex has installation videos available, and following along with a separate M&P disassembly video helps a lot.
