There's a reason the 16 inch 5.56 carbine is the default answer when someone asks what AR they should get, and the CMMG Resolute MK4 is one of the nicer takes on that formula. CMMG builds this one around a 16.1 inch medium taper barrel in 4140 chrome moly steel with a salt bath nitride treatment, paired with a .750 inch mid-length gas system. That mid-length gas is worth paying attention to, since it smooths out the recoil impulse noticeably compared to carbine-length setups and tends to be easier on parts over the long haul. A 1:7 twist stabilizes everything from light varmint loads up to heavy 77 grain match ammo, and the 1/2-28 threaded muzzle wears CMMG's ZEROED SV brake from the factory.
Where this rifle separates itself from budget builds is the parts list. CMMG loads it up with their ZEROED line, including a drop-in single stage trigger, 60/90 degree ambidextrous safety, ambi mag catch with extended release button, ambi charging handle, pistol grip, and polymer dust cover. Lefties get a rifle that works for them right out of the box, and righties get faster manipulations with either hand. The six position RipStock locks up tight with none of the rattle you get from cheaper collapsible stocks, and it snaps to your preferred length fast.
The EML15 handguard runs full length M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock plus additional slots between the front and rear Picatinny sections, so lights, bipods, and hand stops mount wherever you want them. At 6.4 pounds bare and 32.5 inches collapsed, it carries easy and swings quick, whether that's a range day, training class, or truck duty.
The Cerakote Midnight Bronze bi-tone finish is tough, good looking, and refreshingly different from the sea of plain black rifles out there. Since it's built on the Mk4 platform, it takes standard AR-15 parts and accessories, and CMMG backs it with their Lifetime Quality Guarantee. It ships without sights, so plan on adding an optic or irons, and the flat top rail gives you plenty of room to do it.
No, this rifle ships without iron sights or an optic. The flat top upper and Picatinny rail sections on the EML15 handguard give you plenty of mounting real estate for a red dot, LPVO, or backup irons, so you can set it up however you shoot best.
Yes, this is one of its strongest selling points. It comes standard with an ambidextrous 60/90 degree safety, ambi mag catch with extended release button, and an ambi charging handle. Left-handed users can run every control without workarounds or aftermarket parts.
The Resolute MK4 uses a .750 inch mid-length gas system, which places the gas port farther down the barrel than a carbine-length setup. That extra dwell distance softens the recoil impulse and reduces wear on the bolt carrier group over time. On a 16.1 inch barrel, mid-length is widely considered the sweet spot.
It will. The Resolute is built on CMMG's Mk4 platform, which follows standard AR-15 patterns, so grips, stocks, triggers, optics mounts, and magazines all interchange. The M-LOK handguard also takes the huge range of M-LOK accessories on the market.
