Description

Live Free Armory built the Apollo 11 around a simple idea: take the single-action trigger feel and solid ergonomics people love about the 1911 pattern, add a double-stack magazine for modern capacity, and make it genuinely carry-ready without stripping out the features that matter. The V2 series is the latest evolution of that platform, and the Compact variant with its 4.15-inch stainless barrel hits a sweet spot between the full-size and subcompact.

The aluminum V2 grip is precision-machined from 6061 aluminum with updated texturing that gives you a consistent, secure hold whether you're running drills at the range or carrying all day. The V2 slide is redesigned with deeper serrations than the original for positive one-handed manipulation even in wet or gloved conditions. Up front, a tritium front night sight means you're not fumbling in low light, and the optic-ready slide uses an RMSc footprint so you can mount a micro red dot without sending it to a gunsmith. The frame is 4140 chrome moly steel finished in black Cerakote, the slide gets a contrasting gray Cerakote coat, and both are built to hold up under regular carry and range use.

Every Apollo 11 V2 comes standard with an ambidextrous billet 4140 steel thumb safety, which is a genuine advantage for lefties and anyone training with both hands. The machined billet trigger breaks cleanly in the 3.5 to 4.5 lb range, which is light enough to be precise but not so light it's a concern for a defensive pistol. The steel frame also incorporates a beavertail for comfortable high-grip shooting and a Picatinny rail for mounting a weapon light.

This is a pistol that makes sense for someone who wants the 1911 manual of arms and trigger feel but doesn't want to give up high-capacity performance to get it. It's equally at home on a home defense nightstand, in a range bag, or on a belt. Made in the USA and distributed by Century Arms.

Frequently Asked Questions

What optics will fit the Apollo 11 V2 Compact slide?

The slide is cut with an RMSc footprint for direct optic mounting with no adapter plate required. Shield Sights RMSc-pattern optics are the native fit. If you're mounting a Holosun K-footprint optic like the 507K, it's worth double-checking screw length and hardware compatibility before assuming a perfect fit, as some micro optics marketed as RMSc-compatible can vary slightly.

Is this pistol suitable for everyday carry?

The compact format with a 4.15-inch barrel and 7.5-inch overall length makes it a workable carry gun, particularly for strong-side or appendix carry with a solid rigid holster. Keep in mind it's an all-metal frame, so it will run heavier than most polymer-framed compacts. That weight also helps tame recoil, which many shooters find is worth the tradeoff.

Does the Apollo 11 V2 have a grip safety like a traditional 1911?

Yes, the Apollo 11 platform retains the grip safety along with the ambidextrous manual thumb safety, staying true to the 1911 manual of arms. This means it's intended to be carried cocked-and-locked, the same way a standard 1911 is, which is a comfortable and proven carry method for those trained on the platform.

What kind of magazines does this pistol use?

The Apollo 11 V2 uses double-stack 9mm magazines specific to the platform, not standard single-stack 1911 magazines. The included magazine holds 18 rounds. LFA recommends using their branded magazines for the most reliable performance.

How does the Apollo 11 V2 Compact differ from the full-size model?

The main difference is barrel length: the compact runs a 4.15-inch barrel and 7.5-inch overall length compared to the full-size's 4.9-inch barrel. Both models share the same frame, grip design, capacity, and V2 feature set including the optic-ready slide, tritium sight, and ambi thumb safety. The compact simply offers a slightly shorter, more carry-oriented footprint.
