Anyone who has fought with a stock AR-15 takedown pin knows the drill: you reach for a punch, a cartridge rim, or whatever is handy, and one wrong move sends a detent spring bouncing into the far corner of the room. The Strike Industries Shift Pins were built to end that dance. These replace your standard takedown and pivot pins with a design you can operate using nothing but your fingers.
The heads are enlarged and textured with an extended grip surface, giving you plenty to grab onto without a tool. The real trick is the Quick Detach mechanism machined into the pins. Instead of pushing them straight through, you simply rotate and pull, which means you can pop them out without touching your stock assembly. No endplate, no castle nut, no buffer tube removal required. It's a genuinely faster way to break down or reconfigure a lower.
Each Shift Pin is CNC machined from solid steel for strength and a precise fit, then finished in chrome for corrosion resistance and a sharp appearance against a bare or anodized receiver. The set also includes enhanced detent pins that stay retained inside the pin springs, so installation doesn't turn into a detent-launching event. The pivot pin measures 1.31 inches and the takedown pin measures 1.08 inches, and the pair weighs in around half an ounce.
The Shift Pins are made to replace standard AR-15, M16, and M4 takedown pins and drop into most standard forged and billet lower receivers. One thing to keep in mind: because of their extended profile, these will not clear the slide rods on Strike Industries PDW stocks or stabilizers, so pass on them if you're running that setup. For most builds, though, they're a simple upgrade that makes cleaning, storage, and quick takedown a whole lot easier.
