The Champion DuraSeal Hanging Gong is built around Champion's self-healing target material, a non-metal compound that lets bullets pass right through and closes up behind them. That means no craters, no chunks blown out, and a target that keeps its shape round after round instead of getting chewed up like paper or cratered like cheap steel. The 8-inch plate wears a high-contrast black and orange finish that's easy to pick up in your optic at distance, and it hangs freely so every solid hit sends it swinging for that satisfying visual confirmation.
The big draw here is longevity. DuraSeal absorbs hundreds of rounds and still holds together, which is a big reason it weighs a fraction of what a comparable steel gong does. Lighter weight makes it easy to haul out to your spot, hang up, and pack back into the truck when you're done. Champion rates this material to handle everything from .17 caliber up through .50 caliber rifles and handguns, so it plays nice whether you're plinking with a rimfire or reaching out with a bigger centerfire load.
This is a grab-and-go setup. The gong ships with its own steel stand, so there's no scrounging for chain, T-posts, or a way to hang it. Pull it out of the box, stand it up on flat ground clear of tall grass and debris, and you're shooting. The kit also includes twelve 5-inch adhesive aiming targets you can stick right on the gong to define a precise point of aim and stretch even more use out of the plate.
It's a smart pick for anyone who's tired of walking downrange to staple up fresh paper every few strings. Hang it, shoot it, and let the swing tell you when you connected. Between the self-healing material and the reactive feedback, this one earns its spot in the range bag for casual plinking sessions and serious practice alike.
Champion rates this DuraSeal gong for .17 caliber all the way up to .50 caliber rifles and handguns. The self-healing material lets bullets pass through and closes up behind them, so it holds up to rimfire plinking and larger centerfire loads alike. As with any self-healing target, aim for the plate itself and avoid hitting the metal stand to keep everything in good shape.
It ships with its own steel stand, so it's ready to shoot right out of the box. You don't need chain, posts, or any extra hardware to get going. Just set it on flat ground clear of tall grass and debris, and you're set.
DuraSeal is a non-metal, self-sealing material rather than steel. Bullets pass right through it and the material closes back up, which means far less pitting and cratering over time and a much lighter target to carry. It also cuts down on the ricochet and splatter concerns that come with metal plates.
The kit comes with twelve 5-inch stick-on aiming targets. You peel and place them on the gong to mark a precise point of aim, which helps with sighting in and tightening up your groups. They also let you spread your hits around the plate to extend its service life.
