The Mk47 has been CMMG's answer to the AR versus AK debate for years, and the DISSENT version takes the idea further than ever. This rifle runs 7.62×39 through a bufferless Compact Action with direct impingement, feeds from AK pattern magazines, and keeps the AR controls, grip, and trigger group you already know. Because there is no buffer tube hanging off the back, CMMG fitted their DISSENT side folding stock, which folds flat against the receiver and cuts the overall length down to about 26 inches for easy transport in a pack or truck bag.
The 14.3 inch medium taper barrel is 4140 chrome moly steel with a salt bath nitride finish, and the ZEROED SVD muzzle brake comes pinned and welded from the factory, bringing the barrel to a full 16.1 inches overall. The brake does a nice job taming muzzle rise, and the adjustable gas block lets you fine tune the system for your preferred ammo or dial things back when running a suppressor. A 1:10 twist stabilizes the full range of 7.62×39 bullet weights, from cheap steel case plinking ammo to premium soft points.
The forward mounted side charging handle is non-reciprocating and can be swapped to either side, so you can run the action without breaking your firing grip. CMMG's ZEROED single stage drop-in trigger breaks at a crisp 4.5 pounds and is built to reliably light off hard steel case primers, which matters in this caliber. You also get a manual bolt catch, a 60/90 degree ambidextrous safety, and a free float M-LOK handguard with a full length top Picatinny rail for optics and accessories.
The folding stock offers 8 length of pull positions, 3 cheek riser heights, and 3 QD sling sockets, so it fits shooters of just about any build. Add in two included 30-round Magpul PMAGs, a sharp two-tone Cerakote finish, and CMMG's lifetime quality guarantee, and this rifle earns its spot as one of the most refined 7.62×39 platforms on the market.
Yes, and that is a big part of its appeal. It feeds from standard AK47 pattern magazines and ships with two 30-round Magpul PMAGs. You get AR ergonomics and modularity while running the same affordable, widely available mags as your AK.
The DISSENT platform uses CMMG's Compact Action, a bufferless direct impingement system that eliminates the buffer tube entirely. With nothing extending behind the receiver, the side folding stock folds flat and the rifle can even fire with the stock folded. Folded length comes in around 26 inches.
It is set up well for it. The adjustable gas block lets you tune gas flow down for suppressor use or match it to your preferred ammo, and the barrel is threaded 5/8×24 under the brake. Keep in mind the SVD brake on this model is pinned and welded in place, so plan your suppressor mounting around that.
That was a design priority. The included ZEROED single stage drop-in trigger was built specifically to ignite the harder primers found in steel case 7.62×39, a common weak point for standard AR triggers in this caliber. It breaks at a clean 4.5 pounds, so you are not trading feel for reliability.
