Grand Power built its reputation in Slovakia making pistols and submachine guns for military and police contracts, and the Stribog SP9A1 carries that pedigree into a 9mm carbine you can take straight to the range. This version wears a flat dark earth finish over its extruded aluminum receiver, and the 16 inch barrel comes threaded with a protector installed, so adding a muzzle device or suppressor takes about a minute. The direct blowback action keeps things dead simple, and 9mm out of a carbine this size is about as pleasant as centerfire shooting gets.
Anyone who has run an AR will feel at home here. The thumb safety sits right where you expect it, the bolt lock and release work from either side, and the Mil-Spec AR-style trigger gives you a familiar, predictable break. The side-folding stock tucks the whole carbine down to a size that fits in packs and cases most rifles never will, which matters more than people think when you are hauling gear to the range or stashing it in a truck.
A full-length Picatinny top rail runs the length of the receiver with flip-up iron sights already mounted, so it is usable out of the box and ready for a red dot or low-power optic whenever you are. The M-LOK handguard takes lights, hand stops, and whatever else you want bolted on without adding weight where you do not need it.
Grand Power includes three 30-round magazines with this carbine, which is a genuinely generous touch when plenty of competitors ship with one. The double-stack, double-feed design runs smoothly, and 90 rounds of loaded capacity means fewer breaks between strings. Between the soft recoil, cheap 9mm ammo, and PCC-friendly ergonomics, this is the kind of gun that eats up an afternoon at the range without eating up your wallet at the ammo counter.
No, this model uses Grand Power's proprietary double-stack, double-feed Stribog magazines. The good news is three 30-round mags come in the box, so you have plenty of capacity from day one. Spare magazines are readily available from Grand Power USA and most major online retailers.
The Stribog's threaded barrel uses the standard 1/2×28 thread pitch common to most 9mm muzzle devices and suppressors. A thread protector comes installed from the factory. The blowback 9mm platform is a popular suppressor host, and the 16 inch barrel version runs subsonic loads especially well.
Absolutely. The full-length Picatinny top rail accepts red dots, low-power variable optics, and magnifiers without any adapters. The included flip-up iron sights fold down out of the way, so they can stay on as backups behind whatever optic you choose.
Very mild. Between the 9mm chambering, the weight of the aluminum receiver, and the 16 inch barrel, muzzle rise is minimal and follow-up shots come fast. It is one of the reasons pistol caliber carbines like the Stribog are so popular for new shooters, high-volume range days, and PCC competition.
