H&K G36 .22 LR Semi-Auto Rimfire Rifle, 10rd Folding Stock, Black

Description

For years, the G36 was one of those rifles Americans could only admire from across the Atlantic. Adopted by the German Bundeswehr in 1997 and fielded by military and police units in over 40 countries, it never made it to our shelves in centerfire form. This .22 LR version, built through HK's partnership with Umarex of Germany, is the closest thing to a factory G36 you can put in your safe, and it nails the look and feel of the original right down to the side-folding stock and short-throw selector.

What Makes the G36 .22 LR Feel Like the Real Deal

This is not a loose interpretation of the G36. Several components are compatible with the original rifle, including the handguard, sight rail, and stock, and the overall dimensions match the centerfire version while shaving off around two pounds of weight. The 18.13 inch barrel wears an authentic-looking four-prong flash hider, the receiver is topped with a Picatinny rail for optics, and adjustable sights come standard. Ambidextrous safety and charging handle round it out, so lefties are not left fighting the controls. The folding synthetic stock collapses the whole package down for easy transport and storage, and the polymer construction keeps it light and easy to handle at around 6.5 pounds.

Where the HK G36 Rimfire Earns Its Keep

Because it runs .22 LR, this rifle makes an excellent sub-caliber trainer for anyone who wants trigger time on the G36 platform without burning through pricey centerfire ammo. It is also just a fun gun, plain and simple. Plinking sessions, steel challenge matches, introducing a new shooter to a semi-auto rifle, teaching fundamentals on a platform with real character, it handles all of it. This version ships with a single 10-round polymer magazine, and the detachable design means quick reloads and easy spares.

A Piece of HK History in Rimfire Form

The G36 helped set the standard that modern rifles still follow, from its heavy use of polymer to its ability to fire with the stock folded. If you have always wanted one on your bench, this is the way to get there, and it earns its spot as more than a range toy.
