The 10mm cartridge really hits its stride out of a 6-inch barrel, and Girsan built the MC1911 Hunter around exactly that idea. Compared to a standard 5-inch Government model, the longer slide adds sight radius, smooths out the already-capable 10mm ballistics, and gives you a gun that feels authoritative in the hand without being unwieldy in the field. The all-machined steel frame and slide aren't just about weight and feel — they give this pistol the structural integrity to digest full-power 10mm loads for the long haul. Whether you're packing it as a hunting sidearm, a woods carry gun, or a dedicated trail pistol in bear country, the MC1911 Hunter is built to work for a living.
Girsan loaded this pistol with field-practical upgrades that go beyond the basic 1911 spec. The fully adjustable EAA Super Sight rear is one of the better adjustable sights in this price range — windage and elevation both dial in quickly with a small flathead screwdriver or even a spent case. The front sight features anti-glare cuts and sits in a dovetail, so swapping it for a higher-visibility option down the road is a straightforward job. The integrated Picatinny-style accessory rail opens the door for a weapon light or laser, which makes a real difference in low-light hunting situations. Ambidextrous thumb safeties are elongated for easy manipulation with gloves on, and the extended beavertail with checkering creates a natural high grip that's both secure and comfortable through extended shooting sessions.
The skeletonized trigger on the MC1911 Hunter breaks cleanly with a crisp single-action feel and minimal overtravel. Combined with the long hole hammer and that big beavertail, the whole package is set up for confident, repeatable shooting. The OD green camo Cerakote finish isn't just aesthetic — Cerakote provides solid corrosion resistance for a gun that will likely see rain, humidity, and rough handling in the field. Synthetic grips keep things light and maintenance-free. With the MC1911 Hunter chambered in 10mm on a Government-size frame, standard 10mm 1911 magazines from reputable makers like MecGar and Wilson Combat are compatible, giving you easy access to extra capacity if needed.
The 6-inch barrel gives the MC1911 Hunter a meaningful velocity advantage over shorter 10mm pistols, along with a longer sight radius that aids accuracy at distance. For hunting or precision range work, it's a capable platform out to 50 yards and beyond in steady hands. The fully adjustable rear Super Sight makes dialing in your point of impact at various distances quick and easy.
Yes. The MC1911 Hunter is built on a standard Government-size 1911 frame, so it accepts any full-size 10mm 1911 magazine. The pistol ships with one magazine, and quality aftermarket options from makers like MecGar and Wilson Combat are widely available and work reliably in this platform.
Cerakote is one of the toughest protective finishes available on production firearms today, offering excellent resistance to corrosion, moisture, and surface wear. For a field pistol that sees hunting seasons, wet conditions, and rough holstering, it's a much better choice than a standard blued or parkerized finish. The OD green camo pattern also blends naturally in wooded and brushy environments.
10mm is widely regarded as one of the most effective handgun cartridges for large, dangerous game defense, and the 6-inch barrel extracts every bit of performance the cartridge has to offer. The MC1911 Hunter's all-steel construction, ambidextrous controls, and solid single-action trigger make it a practical choice for that role. Pair it with quality hard-cast or bonded hunting loads for maximum penetration.
Yes, the MC1911 Hunter has an integrated Picatinny-style accessory rail on the frame forward of the trigger guard. It accepts a wide range of weapon lights and lasers designed for full-size 1911 or Picatinny-compatible accessories. This makes it particularly useful for low-light hunting applications or as a home defense option.
Holster options for long-slide 1911s are more limited than standard 5-inch models, but they do exist. Look specifically for holsters listed as compatible with long-slide or 6-inch 1911 Government models. Open-bottom holsters designed for 5-inch 1911s can also work in a pinch. Custom Kydex makers are a good option if you want a precise fit.
