The Ruger PC Carbine is a great platform right out of the box, but that stock plastic handguard leaves a lot on the table. Midwest Industries built the MICRPC9X to fix that. This 14-inch free-float forend replaces the factory piece with a slim, rigid aluminum handguard that gives you real estate for accessories and a much better feel in the support hand. It lines up cleanly with the receiver and just plain looks better than the OEM part it replaces.
You get M-LOK slots across eight flats running the length of the handguard, so mounting a vertical grip, light, laser, or bipod is straightforward with standard M-LOK hardware. Three built-in anti-rotation QD sling sockets are worked right into the design, which means you can set up your sling exactly how you want it without adding bulky adapters. Because it free-floats the barrel, nothing you clamp on is putting pressure where it shouldn't be.
The handguard is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished in Type III hard coat anodize, which is the same finish you find on serious duty-grade gear. It shrugs off wear, holds up to corrosion, and keeps that clean matte black look. Midwest fully dehorns and deburrs the whole thing, so there are no sharp edges digging into your hand during a long range session. Installed weight comes in right around 11.9 ounces, so you're adding capability without turning your carbine into a boat anchor. It ships backed by the Midwest Industries lifetime warranty.
This one is designed for the takedown PC9 and PC9-TC models in 9mm and .40 that came with the factory plastic forearm. Installation is simple with the included hardware, though the takedown design means a little patience during alignment goes a long way. One thing worth knowing up front: the extended handguard does not clear a fiber optic front sight, since it obstructs the fiber pin. If you're running the standard factory sights or going optic-only, you're good to go.
It's built for the takedown PC9 and PC9-TC models chambered in 9mm and .40 that came from the factory with the plastic forearm. It does not fit the Ruger PC Carbine models that already ship with a factory free-float M-LOK handguard, so you can't swap one of those for this one. Check what forend your carbine came with before ordering.
No. The extended MICRPC9X handguard obstructs the fiber optic pin on the front sight, so it isn't compatible with the fiber optic upgrade. Running the standard factory sights or going optic-only is the way to go with this one.
Installation is straightforward with the included bolt and wrench, and most folks knock it out at home. Since the PC Carbine is a takedown design, perfect alignment can take a couple of attempts, and lining the handguard up with the top edges of the factory stock helps. If you still notice any play afterward, double-check that the rifle's tension adjustment ring is set correctly.
