There's a reason the 4-inch .357 Magnum rode on duty belts for decades. It's long enough to get real velocity out of the cartridge and short enough to carry all day, and the Rossi RM64 follows that recipe closely. You get a medium steel frame, a 6-round cylinder, and a matte stainless finish that shrugs off weather and holster wear. At 27.3 ounces, there's enough heft to keep full-house magnum loads manageable without turning the gun into a boat anchor on your hip.
The rear sight adjusts for windage and elevation, paired with a serrated ramp front that cuts glare and gives you a clean picture whether you're punching paper at 25 yards or working steel. The DA/SA action lets you run the trigger fast in double action or cock the hammer for deliberate single-action shots, and the hammer-mounted firing pin with a wide spur makes thumbing it back easy. Textured rubber grips soak up recoil and lock into your hand, which you'll appreciate the first time you touch off a 158-grain magnum. The cylinder is profiled to work with speedloaders, and K-frame loaders fit right in, so reloads don't have to be a fumbling affair.
Since it's chambered in .357 Magnum, the RM64 happily digests .38 Special too. That means cheap, soft-shooting practice ammo for new revolver owners and building fundamentals, with magnum power on tap when it counts. It's the kind of versatility that makes a medium-frame 4-inch wheelgun one of the most useful handguns you can own: home defense, trail carry, range work, it covers all of it with one gun.
Rossi has been building firearms since 1889, and the current RM series has drawn real praise for fit, polish, and trigger quality that punches well above its class. If you've been wanting a do-everything stainless .357 without the premium-brand markup, the RM64 makes a strong case for itself.
Yes. Like any .357 Magnum revolver, the RM64 safely fires .38 Special, including +P loads. A lot of owners do most of their practice with mild .38s and keep magnums loaded for defense or the field, which keeps range sessions comfortable and affordable.
They do. The cylinder is profiled to clear speedloaders, and loaders made for S&W K-frame revolvers, like the HKS 10-A style, have been reported to work well with it. That also means K-frame holsters are usually a close fit for this gun.
Yes, the rear sight adjusts for both windage and elevation, paired with a serrated ramp front sight. That lets you dial the gun in for different bullet weights, which matters when you switch between light .38 target loads and heavy .357 magnums.
At 27.3 ounces unloaded, it sits in a comfortable middle ground for a medium-frame steel revolver. There's enough weight to tame .357 Magnum recoil, but with a good belt and holster it carries fine all day, which is exactly why this size wore duty leather for so many years.
