Most AR-10 and .308 AR builds come overgassed straight from the factory, which means the bolt slams back harder and faster than it needs to. That translates to snappier recoil, brass flying way out front, and even rougher behavior once you add a can. The Odin Works AR-10 Adjustable Buffer gives you a clean way to fix all of that from the buffer tube instead of tearing into your gas block. It drops right in and lets you fine-tune the reciprocating mass until your rifle runs the way you want it to.
The buffer ships with a stainless steel body and three interchangeable weights: one aluminum, one stainless steel, and one tungsten. Mixing and matching those inside the body lets you land anywhere from 3.45 to 4.65 ounces, covering the heavier range that large-frame ARs typically need to run right. Instead of buying a drawer full of fixed H2 and H3 buffers to figure out what your gun likes, you swap weights and settle on the sweet spot. That flexibility is gold if you switch between suppressed and unsuppressed, or bounce around different loads.
Odin Works put the adjustment on the face of the buffer, held together with set screws. No punching out roll pins, no hammer, no nylon endcaps to fight with. Grab an Allen wrench, back out the screw, change your weight combination, and lock it back down. Once it's dialed, it stays put through recoil.
A couple of fit notes worth knowing before you order: this is a carbine-length buffer at roughly 2.5 inches, built for AR-10 rifles running standard AR-15 style carbine buffer tubes. A lot of .308 cycling headaches come down to the wrong buffer in the tube, so getting the correct length and weight matters. It's designed for AR-10 and .308 AR rifles running a standard AR-15 style carbine-length buffer tube, which covers a huge chunk of large-frame builds. The buffer measures right around 2.5 inches, which is the correct length for a standard carbine extension. If your tube is labeled a 308 carbine buffer tube, it's very often the same internal length as a standard AR-15 carbine tube, so this drops right in.
Odin Works put the adjustment on the face of the buffer using set screws, so all you need is an Allen wrench. Back out the screw, swap your combination of aluminum, stainless, and tungsten weights, then snug it back down. There are no roll pins to punch out and no hammer required, and it holds its setting once you find what works.
That's exactly what it's built for. Adding weight to the buffer slows the bolt down mechanically, which tames the harder recoil impulse and rough cycling you get from an overgassed gun, and that gets even more noticeable with a suppressor attached. Being able to move up to 4.65 ounces lets you counteract the extra gas without cracking open your gas system.
One adjustable buffer covers the heavier weight range you'd otherwise chase by buying multiple fixed buffers, so you save money and drawer space. It's also handy if you switch between subsonic and supersonic ammo, run different setups, or occasionally change calibers, since you just re-tune instead of re-buying. You dial the rifle in once and it's set for that configuration.
