The tactical lever is the heart of the design. It runs a narrow profile that keeps your 1911 from snagging on a shirt or cover garment during the draw, but the lever is extended and serrated so you can find it and sweep it off fast under stress. It also gives you a comfortable thumb rest if you shoot with a high thumb, which a lot of 1911 shooters do. Wilson designs these to be close to drop-in, but in practice the safety lug almost always needs a little fitting to the sear for proper engagement. This is a single-side, right-hand safety. If you're left-handed or want to run the gun with either hand, you'll want Wilson's ambidextrous Bullet Proof version instead. The single-side keeps the profile slim, which a lot of folks prefer for concealed carry.
Heads up that the blued finish tends to come out shiny with a slightly plum or purple tone rather than a flat black. It's normal for this part and not a defect. The finish helps protect against rust and wear, but if you want a perfect color match to a matte black slide, that's worth knowing in advance.
