Description

The Magpul ASAP QD is a replacement receiver end plate that gives your AR-15 or M4-style carbine a rear quick-detach sling mount that swings with the gun instead of fighting you. It bolts in right where your factory end plate lives, so there's no cutting, drilling, or permanent modification involved. The whole attachment point rotates through a wide arc, which means your sling stays out of the way when you swap from your primary shoulder to your reaction side.

What Makes the ASAP QD Different

Most end plate sling points are fixed, which forces the sling to twist and bind when you move the rifle around. The ASAP QD lets the swivel travel through more than 180 degrees of motion, so left-handed and right-handed users get the same clean, snag-free experience. It accepts any standard push-button QD sling swivel, and it plays especially well with the Magpul MS4 GEN 2 for one-point and convertible two-point rigs. If you run the Magpul QDM swivel, that drops right in too.

Steel Built for Hard Use

This isn't a flimsy stamped plate. The ASAP QD is precision cast steel that's case hardened and finished with QPQ salt bath nitride, giving it serious resistance to wear and corrosion when the rifle sees weather, dust, and range time. It's made in the USA and works with both mil-spec and commercial-spec buffer tubes, so it fits the vast majority of carbine builds out there.

Fitment Notes Before You Buy

Installation is a straightforward castle nut job. You loosen the nut, back off the buffer tube, swap the plate, then torque everything back to spec. Because the steel is so hard, Magpul says staking isn't required once the castle nut is properly torqued, and a dab of thread locker is a popular route if you want extra insurance. One thing worth knowing: the ASAP QD is meant for collapsible carbine stocks and does not work with A1/A2 fixed stocks or fixed-style stocks like the PRS, UBR, and MOE Rifle stocks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the ASAP QD fit my AR-15?

It fits standard AR-15 and M4-style carbines with collapsible stocks, and it works with both mil-spec and commercial-spec buffer tubes. It is not compatible with A1/A2 fixed stocks or fixed-style stocks like the Magpul PRS, UBR, and MOE Rifle stocks. If you're running a collapsible carbine stock, you're good to go.

Do I have to stake the castle nut when installing the ASAP QD?

No. Magpul notes that staking isn't required as long as the castle nut is properly torqued to spec. The steel on this plate is very hard, so if you do want to stake it, it's best left to an armorer or gunsmith. Plenty of folks just torque it down and add a bit of thread locker for peace of mind.

What slings and swivels work with the Magpul ASAP QD?

It accepts any standard push-button quick-disconnect sling swivel, so most QD slings on the market will click right in. It pairs especially well with the Magpul MS4 GEN 2 for one-point and convertible two-point setups, and the Magpul QDM swivel drops in as well. This makes it a solid match for single-point sling configurations.

How hard is the ASAP QD to install?

It's a basic castle nut swap that most people knock out in a few minutes. You'll need an armorer's or spanner wrench to loosen the castle nut, back off the buffer tube, swap in the new plate, and torque it back to spec. There are plenty of walkthroughs online if it's your first time doing an end plate.
