The Magpul AFG (Angled Fore Grip) takes a different approach than the old-school vertical grip. Instead of a straight-up handle, it uses a raked angle that lines your support hand up high on the centerline of the bore. That geometry works with the way your wrist naturally sits, so you get a more relaxed hold, less fatigue on longer range days, and better command of the muzzle when you're running strings of fire. It clamps onto most any M1913 Picatinny-railed handguard and Magpul recommends around 4 inches of rail space to mount it up.
By driving your hand rearward and upward against the gun rather than wrapping straight around a post, the AFG helps you pull the rifle into your shoulder and settle the front sight faster between shots. Folks coming off vertical grips tend to be surprised at how quickly the angled hold clicks, and it's a favorite for anyone who likes a thumb-over-bore or C-clamp style grip up front. This is a polymer three-piece design with a swappable finger shelf, so you can set it up with a flat A1-style surface or an A2-style finger nub depending on how you like the index point to feel. It's a small touch, but it lets you tune the grip to your hand instead of settling for one shape. Built from Magpul's tough, lightweight polymer, it tips the scales at right around 2.9 ounces, so it won't throw off the balance of a lighter build.

The AFG clamps onto MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails and NATO STANAG 4694 rails, so it fits most any Picatinny-railed handguard. Magpul recommends having around 4 inches of rail space to mount it securely. If your handguard is M-LOK or KeyMod, you'll need a short section of Picatinny rail attached first.
