When you're piecing together an AR-15 upper, the gas block is one of those parts you don't want to cut corners on. The BCM Low-Profile Gas Block is Bravo Company's answer for anyone running a .625 barrel journal who wants a component that just works and disappears under the handguard. It's machined from steel, wears a black phosphate finish, and is built for AR-15, M16, M4, and M4A1 platforms, so it slots into just about any standard direct-impingement build.
The detail that matters most here is how it's made. BCM holds very tight Mil-Spec tolerances on all the inside diameters, and the barrel ID is honed after the finish goes on, following USGI TDP practice. This block is made for barrels with a .625-inch journal diameter at the gas seat. Before ordering, measure your barrel at the gas port area, since .750 is the other common size and the two are not interchangeable. If your barrel spec calls for .625, this is the right fit.
Dimpling isn't strictly required, but it's strongly recommended for any set-screw block. A dimple gives the screws a positive seat so the block can't rotate or walk loose under heat and recoil. Pair that with a high-temp thread locker and it'll stay put for the long haul.
The gas block itself doesn't determine your gas length. It works with standard direct-impingement gas tubes, so you match the tube (carbine, mid-length, rifle, etc.) to your barrel's gas port location. Just confirm you're pairing it with the correct tube for your build.
Steel handles the heat cycling of a gas block better than aluminum over the long run, which is why BCM builds this one from steel. The black phosphate finish adds corrosion resistance and keeps things non-reflective under the handguard. It's a durable, serviceable setup built to Mil-Spec tolerances.
