Pin walk is one of those problems you don't think about until a trigger or hammer pin creeps sideways at the range and your rifle stops going bang. The KNS Precision .1555 Non-Rotating Trigger/Hammer Pins (G2) put a stop to that. Instead of relying on tension alone, this set links the two pins together with external stainless steel sideplate retainers that bolt into place, so nothing rotates and nothing walks out no matter how hard you run the gun.
The .1555 diameter is the detail that matters here. It runs slightly larger than the common .154 size, which makes it the right call for receivers with pin holes that have loosened up from wear or hard use. Drop these in and you snug everything back up while stopping further wear from happening. They also work great in fresh receivers, especially paired with a match trigger where they help pull the free play out of the pull. Worth noting: the .1555 will not fit Jewell trigger systems, and Rock River National Match triggers should use the .1555 specifically.
The pins are machined from stainless steel with black nitride sideplates, built to shrug off the high impact you get from full and semi-auto fire in 9mm, .223, and 7.62mm setups, including suppressed guns. KNS calls these the strongest pins they produce, and the fit and finish backs that up. The Gen 2 and Gen 2 Mod 2 sideplates share identical strength, so the only real difference between them is the look of the plate.
Installation is straightforward and requires no permanent changes to your rifle. The kit ships with a conical brass guide tool that keeps tension on the trigger group while you swap pins, plus two Torx wrenches and the retainer screws. Most folks knock these in with a standard punch and are done in about ten minutes. One tip straight from KNS: don't overtighten the screws. They recommend 8 inch-pounds of torque with 11 inch-pounds as the hard ceiling, since going past that can damage the sideplates. Read the included instructions before you start and you'll have a clean, secure install that leaves your lower better protected than it was before.
