If you're running the Hunter X-22 Takedown Stock and you've got more than one barrel in the rotation, this forend is the piece that makes swapping them out painless. Instead of buying a second complete stock every time you add a barrel to your Ruger 10/22 Takedown, you grab one of these, set it up for that barrel profile, and you're ready to roll. It's a smart way to keep a light hunting setup and a heavier bull-barrel target rig sharing the same buttstock.
The heart of this thing is the reversible barrel tray. Pop the two tray screws with a 3/32" hex key, flip the tray to the profile you need, and it seats up for either a factory pencil barrel or a heavy bull barrel up to 0.920" outer diameter. There's also an adjustable tensioning shim built in so you can dial in a little barrel preload and tune your harmonics, or leave the barrel free-floated if that's how you like to shoot. Little touches like that are why the Hunter X-22 line has such a loyal following among 10/22 folks.
M-LOK slots run along both sides and the bottom, so bipods, lights, and sling hardware all have a home. There's also a dimpled drill point underneath if you'd rather run a traditional sling swivel stud like Magpul's MAG819, which is handy if you're hanging a bipod for prone work or small game sitting. It's built from the same reinforced polymer as the rest of the Magpul stock family, so it shrugs off field abuse without adding much weight.
At 10.5 inches long and right around 8.75 ounces, it keeps the balance and feel you already know from the Hunter X-22 Takedown Stock. Set it once for a given barrel and it drops right back into place every time you reassemble the rifle. Made in the USA.
This forend is built specifically for the Ruger 10/22 Takedown running the Hunter X-22 Takedown Stock. It won't work on a standard non-takedown 10/22 or with other stocks. If you've got the matching Hunter X-22 Takedown Stock, this drops right in.
