The Ruger 10/22 is one of the most modded rimfires on the planet, and the Magpul Hunter X-22 is where a lot of those builds start. It drops right into any factory 10/22 receiver with no gunsmithing, no fussy fitting, no headaches. Made from reinforced polymer, it takes the toy-like feel out of a stock 10/22 and gives you something that shoulders like a real field rifle. The pronounced pistol grip angle puts your wrist, hand, and eye in a relaxed, natural line, and the flat-bottomed forend rides bags nicely if you like shooting off a bench or a pack.
The big draw here is fit. The included 0.5-inch spacers let you set length of pull anywhere from 12.5 to 14.5 inches, so whether you've got long arms, a growing kid, or you're stacked up in a heavy jacket, you can get it right. Pop a single screw at the rear to add or remove spacers. Want a higher cheek weld for a scope? Magpul sells optional cheek riser kits that raise comb height 0.25, 0.50, or 0.75 inches, which is handy once you throw some glass on top.
One of the smartest touches is the reversible barrel tray. One side is channeled for skinny factory pencil profile barrels, and flip it over and it opens up to swallow bull barrels up to 0.920 inches in diameter. Swapping between a carbine barrel and a heavy target barrel is a matter of a few screws instead of buying a whole new stock. There's also an adjustable tension shim in the forend if you want to tinker with barrel harmonics, or leave it out entirely for a free-floated setup.
For hanging gear, you get M-LOK slots on the forend sides and bottom, left and right footman's loops, and QD sling cup compatibility, so bipods, lights, and slings all have a home. The non-slip rubber butt-pad keeps it planted in your shoulder, and it works with all capacities of factory 10/22 magazines.
