Description

BCM's MK2 recoil mitigation system takes the proven A5 platform and makes it their own, delivering smoother cycling and manageable recoil impulse on intermediate and short-barreled ARs. This complete kit ships ready to drop into any mil-spec lower receiver without hunting down separate components. You get the T2 buffer, intermediate-length receiver extension, M16A4 rifle spring, castle nut, and QD end plate all together.

What Makes the MK2 T2 Different

The T2 buffer weighs 5.6 ounces and sits in the sweet spot for shooters running larger cartridges like 300 BLK, 7.62×39, and 6.5 Grendel through 16-inch barrels or working with shorter gas systems. The heavier weight slows bolt carrier velocity to smooth out the impulse instead of delivering that sharp, snappy recoil you get from standard carbine buffers. Inside the buffer sits four sliding weights held in place by an internal spring, which keeps everything quiet and consistent shot after shot. Standard carbine buffers only have three weights, so this extra mass gives you more tuning room.

Engineering That Actually Works

The receiver extension is about three-quarters of an inch longer than carbine-length tubes, which lets BCM use the rifle-length M16A4 spring. That spring has more coils spread over a longer distance, which means the system can absorb recoil over a longer travel and reduces bolt bounce that can hurt reliability. The MK2 receiver extension is hardcoat anodized 7075-T6 aluminum with eight stock positions for adjustment. All components meet mil-spec dimensions, so you're not stuck with some proprietary ecosystem beyond this kit.

What You Should Know

Because the tube is slightly longer, some mil-spec stocks may not collapse all the way to the castle nut. That's worth checking if you're running a stock you already own. The T2 weight is specifically matched to this system and won't work with standard carbine tubes. If you're building a rifle that's going to run suppressed or you want to tame recoil on a mid-length barrel, this is a straightforward choice. Installation is no different from a standard buffer tube setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the MK2 T2 work with my existing mil-spec stock?

The receiver extension is longer than a standard carbine tube, so some mil-spec stocks may not collapse fully to the castle nut. Check your stock's dimensions before ordering, or test fit it before final assembly. Most common mil-spec and Magpul stocks will work, though you might have a little extra travel at the most compressed position.

Is the BCM MK2 T2 buffer compatible with standard carbine buffer tubes?

No. The T2 buffer and entire MK2 system are designed to work only with the BCM MK2 receiver extension and M16A4 rifle spring included in this kit. They're not cross-compatible with standard mil-spec carbine systems.

What calibers is the T2 weight best suited for?

The T2 at 5.6 ounces works well with intermediate cartridges like 300 BLK, 7.62×39, and 6.5 Grendel. For standard 5.56 NATO with longer barrels, the lighter T1 (4.7oz) is another option. BCM also makes T0, T3, and T4 weights for different setups and cartridge combinations.

How does the MK2 system reduce recoil compared to a standard carbine buffer?

The longer receiver extension and rifle-length spring spread the spring load over more coils and distance, which absorbs recoil over a longer travel. The heavier T2 buffer slows bolt carrier velocity, and the four sliding weights inside reduce bolt bounce. Together, this turns a sharp impulse into a smoother, more manageable push.
