The T2 buffer in this kit weighs in at 5.6 ounces, which puts it in the sweet spot for heavier-recoiling builds. It's a strong match for larger calibers like 7.62×39, 300 Blackout, and 6.5 Grendel, and plenty of folks run it on shorter or suppressed 5.56 uppers to slow down an overgassed cycle. That extra buffer weight paired with the M16A4 rifle spring gives you a noticeably softer push, keeps the reticle settled through the shot, and cuts down on the metallic boing you hear from cheaper carbine setups.
Inside the buffer is an internal counterweight with increased travel plus a small spring that keeps that weight seated consistently. It will fit any mil-spec diameter stock, but keep in mind the MK2 extension is about three-quarters of an inch longer than a standard carbine tube. Because of that added length, some stocks may not collapse all the way closed against the castle nut. You still get eight positions of adjustment to dial in your length of pull.
