The Battle Arms Development BAD Xiphos PCC Upper Receiver is a purpose-built home for a pistol-caliber build. Instead of adapting a standard 5.56 upper, BAD started fresh and cut this one from a solid block of 7075-T6 aircraft-grade billet aluminum, then wrapped it in a Type III hard-coat anodized finish that holds up to real use. The result is a stripped upper that feels lean in the hand and looks the part with those signature Xiphos lightening cuts running down the sides.
BAD designed this specifically for blowback 9mm carbines and pistols, so it plays nicely with the higher bolt speeds and different pressures that come with a pistol-caliber setup. The material-removed cuts are the headline here. They pull weight out of the areas that do not need the beef while leaving the structural sections intact, which is exactly what you want in a receiver that has to stay square and rigid shot after shot. Every edge comes deburred and softened, and the receivers go through a dimensional accuracy inspection before they ship.
The smart part of this receiver is compatibility. It is matched to the Xiphos lower for that continuous-line look with the notch cut carried across the top, but it will run on any mil-spec style 9mm lower you already own. Keep in mind this is a stripped upper, so it arrives as the bare receiver. You will be adding your own forward assist and dust cover if you want them, along with your barrel, bolt, charging handle, and handguard to finish the build.
