The TekMat Ultra 44 takes everything folks liked about the original TekMat and scales it up. At a full 15 by 44 inches, this mat gives you enough real estate to lay out a completely disassembled AR-15 with room left over for punches, brushes, cleaning rods, and whatever else migrates onto the bench. No more chasing takedown pins across the table or stacking parts on top of each other. The printed cutaway diagram running the length of the mat doubles as a handy reference when you're field stripping or putting things back together, and it's genuinely a cool thing to look at while you work.
The headline here is the quarter-inch padding. That extra thickness cushions your rifle and its components against dings and drops, and it gives the whole thing a solid, premium feel under your hands. Underneath is a vulcanized rubber, non-slip backing that keeps the mat planted on the bench and protects your work surface underneath. The stitched edge is a nice touch too, since it keeps the mat from curling up at the corners or fraying over time.
The surface is oil and water resistant, so spilled CLP, bore solvent, and cleaning grime wipe up instead of soaking in. TekMat uses dye-sublimation printing that bonds the ink into the fibers, which means the diagram won't wear off or fade even after years of scrubbing and wiping. That's a real difference from cheaper silkscreened mats where the graphics flake away.
Whether you're a new AR owner still learning the platform, a longtime builder, or an armorer working on other people's rifles, the Ultra 44 earns its spot on the bench. When you're done, it rolls up for compact storage right alongside the rest of your cleaning gear.
The mat measures 15 inches by 44 inches, which is oversized on purpose. That gives you enough room to lay out a fully disassembled AR-15 rifle with space left over for your tools and small parts. Most standard workbenches handle it just fine.
No. TekMat uses dye-sublimation printing that bonds the ink directly into the fibers of the surface rather than sitting on top like a silkscreen. That means the cutaway graphic resists fading and won't flake off, even after years of solvent and oil exposure.
Yes, the surface is oil and water resistant, so spilled CLP, bore solvent, and general grime wipe up rather than soaking in. The mat also protects your firearm's finish from scratches while you work, and the vulcanized rubber backing shields the bench underneath.
It does. When you're finished, the mat rolls up so you can tuck it away with the rest of your cleaning kit. The stitched edge helps it keep its shape and prevents the corners from curling or fraying.
