Getting light on target quickly is half the battle in low-light situations, and the Crimson Trace CWL-102 makes that easy. It runs a high-output Cree XPL LED that puts out 500 lumens of bright white light, enough to identify what's in front of you and light up a room or a tree line without hesitation. The whole thing is built around an anodized aluminum body that shrugs off recoil, drops, and weather, with waterproof and impact resistance rated to one meter.
Mounting is where this light really earns its keep. It ships with attachments for M1913 Picatinny, KeyMod, and M-LOK rail systems, so it bolts onto just about any modern rifle, carbine, or shotgun you're running. Installation takes just a few minutes with basic tools, and once it's on, you get two ways to fire it up: the Instant Activation Tap-On/Tap-Off tail cap, or the included remote pressure pad. The remote pad mounts wherever your support hand naturally sits, so you never have to break your grip to reach the switch. It also runs both solid and momentary modes, which is handy when you want a quick flash instead of leaving the light burning.
Power comes from a single CR123 lithium battery, and you'll see right around one hour and ten minutes of runtime on a fresh cell. At roughly 4 inches long and 3.9 ounces with the battery installed, it stays out of the way and doesn't throw off the balance of your setup. Pop it out of the mount and it works just fine as a handheld flashlight, so it pulls double duty when you're away from the range.
