That silver finish is not paint. WMD Guns built its reputation doing metallurgy and plating work for other names in the industry, and the Beast 9mm is what happens when they coat a whole gun in their own NiB-X nickel boron. The billet 7075 aluminum upper and lower, the free float handguard, the barrel extension, and the six position receiver extension inside and out all get the treatment. Nickel boron is harder than hard chrome with a friction coefficient down near Teflon, so moisture, corrosion, and powder fouling have a hard time getting a grip. After a long range day, most of the carbon comes off with a dry rag instead of a scrub brush.
The bones underneath are just as sorted. The 16 inch M4 profile barrel is match grade chrome moly vanadium steel with a 1:10 twist, and the bore gets a Nitromet QPQ salt bath nitride treatment for wear resistance and long term accuracy. WMD publishes real numbers on this model too, with Federal American Eagle 123 grain printing around 0.55 MOA at 50 yards and Remington 115 grain FMJ holding roughly 1.75 MOA at 100. For a straight blowback 9mm AR, that is genuinely impressive shooting. The whole build tips the scales around 7.2 pounds, which soaks up what little recoil 9mm produces in the first place.
Magpul MOE furniture handles the stock and grip, and the CNC machined 6061-T6 handguard carries M-LOK slots for lights, hand stops, and sling mounts. The flat top upper leaves plenty of room for a red dot, which is how most people run a pistol caliber carbine like this. Feed it from the included 33 round magazine, load up on affordable range ammo, and you have a made in the USA carbine that stands out on the firing line and cleans up in a fraction of the time.
It is a working coating, not a paint job. NiB-X nickel boron is harder than hard chrome and extremely slick, so carbon and fouling do not bond to the surface the way they do on phosphate parts. Most grime wipes off with a rag, and the coating keeps its lubricity even when the gun is running fairly dry.
WMD publishes factory results for this model, with Federal American Eagle 123 grain grouping around 0.55 MOA at 50 yards and 1.25 MOA at 100, and Remington 115 grain FMJ running about 1.75 MOA at 100 yards. For a blowback 9mm AR, those are strong numbers, and the Nitromet treated match grade barrel deserves much of the credit.
