There's something to be said for a shotgun that doesn't try to be fancy. The Tokarev TX1 is a straightforward 12 gauge pump gun with an 18.5 inch barrel, a 3 inch chamber, and a 5+1 capacity, built around the kind of simple, proven design that has kept pump actions on the job for over a century. At 38 inches overall and about 6.1 pounds unloaded, it's short and light enough to move through a hallway or ride behind the seat of a truck without feeling like a burden.
The black synthetic stock and forend shrug off weather and rough handling, and a recoil pad on the buttstock takes some of the sting out of heavier loads. A raised bead front sight gets you on target quickly at defensive distances, and the cross bolt safety sits right where your trigger finger expects it. The tube magazine feeds 2.75 and 3 inch shells, so everything from light birdshot to full-power buckshot and slugs is on the menu. Tokarev also ships this one with three choke tubes, which is a nice touch at this level. Run it open for defensive work or thread in a tighter tube and stretch your patterns out for clays or small game.
Tokarev shotguns are imported by SDS Imports and backed by a lifetime service plan, so support is there if you ever need it. For a first shotgun, a dedicated home defense gun, or a beater that lives in the barn or the boat, the TX1 makes a strong case for itself. It does the pump gun thing the way it should be done: load it, rack it, and it goes bang. Sometimes that's exactly what you want, and nothing more.
Yes. The TX1 has a 3 inch chamber, so it handles standard 2.75 inch shells as well as 3 inch magnum loads. That covers everything from light target birdshot up to full-power buckshot and slugs, making it a versatile choice for range time and home defense alike.
It does. This model ships with three choke tubes, which lets you tune your pattern for the job at hand. Run a more open choke for close-range defensive work or a tighter constriction when you want denser patterns at distance.
It fits the role well. The 18.5 inch barrel keeps the overall length to 38 inches, and at roughly 6.1 pounds it's easy to maneuver in tight spaces. Add the 5+1 capacity and simple bead sight, and you have a practical defensive setup right out of the box.
Tokarev shotguns are manufactured in Turkey and imported by SDS Imports out of Knoxville, Tennessee. The brand backs its firearms with a lifetime service plan, so you have factory support behind the gun for the long haul.
