The Cascade was CVA's first swing at a bolt-action centerfire, and they came out of the gate with a rifle that punches well above its weight class. This version is chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum, a cartridge that has settled arguments on elk, moose, and long shots across open country for decades. The 24 inch 4140 carbon steel barrel gives the .300 Win Mag the room it needs to build velocity, and it wears a durable Graphite Black Cerakote finish that shrugs off weather and rough handling. The muzzle comes threaded 5/8×24, so hanging a brake to tame recoil or running a suppressor is as simple as spinning one on.
The bolt runs on a 70 degree throw, which means faster cycling and plenty of clearance for larger scope bells. The receiver ships with a one-piece Picatinny rail, so you can mount glass without hunting down bases, and it also accepts Savage 110-style two-piece bases if that is more your style. Feeding comes from a flush-fit detachable box magazine holding three rounds, and the two-position safety sits right where your thumb expects it. The 1:10 twist rate stabilizes the heavier bullets that make the .300 Win Mag shine at distance.
The fiberglass-reinforced synthetic stock wears an OD Green SoftTouch finish that stays grippy when your hands are cold, wet, or gloved. A removable spacer lets you adjust length of pull, so the same rifle can fit a growing hunter or a full-sized adult in a heavy coat. Dual front sling studs let you run a sling and a bipod at the same time, a small detail that anyone who has fumbled with swapping hardware in the field will appreciate. At around 7.3 pounds bare, it carries comfortably on long hikes but has enough heft to help settle the magnum recoil. Add glass and ammo and this Cascade is ready for whatever your tag says.
Yes. The 24 inch barrel comes threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard thread pitch for most .30 caliber suppressors and muzzle brakes. Just remove the thread protector and spin on your device. A good brake also does wonders taming .300 Win Mag recoil if you shoot unsuppressed.
This model ships with a one-piece Picatinny rail, so you can mount rings and glass without buying anything extra. The receiver is also drilled and tapped to accept Savage 110-style two-piece bases if you prefer a lower or lighter setup. No iron sights are included, so plan on running an optic.
The 1:10 twist is the standard for .300 Win Mag and stabilizes the full range of common hunting bullets, from 150 grain up through 200 grain and beyond. Heavier 180 to 200 grain loads are popular picks for elk and moose, while lighter bullets work great for deer. Most factory ammo will shoot well through this barrel.
It can. The buttstock includes a removable spacer that shortens the length of pull, making the rifle a solid fit for younger hunters or smaller statured adults. Pop the spacer back in as they grow and the same rifle fits a full-sized adult. The SoftTouch stock finish also keeps a secure grip in cold or wet weather.
