The Texas White Wing name carries real weight with dove and quail hunters, and for good reason. This load was engineered with one goal in mind: giving you the right combination of pattern density and velocity to stay effective from sunrise to sunset. The 2-3/4" shell packs 1-1/8 ounces of #7.5 lead shot traveling at 1250 fps, hitting that sweet spot where you get hard-hitting effectiveness without excessive recoil.
Dove and quail hunting demands a carefully balanced load. These birds move fast and erratic, so the shot needs to be sized right. The #7.5 shot transfers energy efficiently into the bird without the risk of over-penetration, meaning more of your energy goes into making an effective hit rather than passing through. That translates to cleaner, more ethical performance in the field.
Fiocchi backs Texas White Wing with quality hulls, wads, and clean-burning powder. The mesh-type wad collapses during firing to help tighten patterns downrange while cushioning recoil. You get dependable cycling and less residue, so your shotgun stays cleaner longer. Whether you're running through a box at the range or hunting all day, this load performs consistently without leaving you with a fouled gun.
While built for dove and quail, Texas White Wing handles other upland birds like teal and snipe, plus small game when you're at reasonable range. That means one box covers more hunting scenarios than you might expect. The 100-round box gives you enough to pattern your gun, hunt a weekend, or practice without breaking the bank.
Yes, these shells work well for other upland birds like teal and snipe. The #7.5 shot is also suitable for small game like rabbits and squirrels when hunting at close range. While designed with dove and quail in mind, the load is versatile enough for various upland hunting scenarios.
Number 7.5 shot is slightly larger than #8, which is common in target loads, but smaller than #7. This size strikes a balance for fast, small targets like doves and quail. It delivers enough energy for clean, ethical hits while reducing the risk of over-penetration, meaning more energy goes into the bird rather than passing through.
These shells are loaded to standard 12-gauge specifications and use quality components designed for dependable cycling. The clean-burning powder and mesh-type wad help ensure consistent performance. That said, gun-to-gun compatibility varies, so pattern testing at the range before hunting is always a good idea.
Texas White Wing was a discontinued load that has been reintroduced due to its strong reputation among dove and quail hunters. It was engineered specifically to balance pattern density and velocity for those fast-flying birds. The load carries the heritage of being trusted by serious wingshooters for decades, now available again in convenient 100-round boxes.
