Description
The XS Sights R3D 2.0 is a second-generation tritium night sight set built specifically for the HK VP9 OR at standard height. Up front you get XS's signature Glow Dot, a green photoluminescent ring wrapped around a Swiss-made tritium vial. That combo means the front sight soaks up ambient light and glows on its own, so it stands out whether you're on a bright range or working in the dark. The rear is blacked out and serrated to cut glare and keep your focus where it belongs, which is downrange on that front dot.
What Makes the R3D 2.0 Different
Compared to the original R3D, this second-gen set runs bigger, brighter rear tritium vials with a defined ring around each lamp for a cleaner sight picture in low light. The front blade measures a wide .145 inch, which is chunkier than a lot of factory posts and makes it easy to pick up in a hurry. Green tends to be the sweet spot for a lot of folks running irons as their primary setup, since it reads almost like a green reflex dot in daylight while still glowing well once the sun drops. In full sun the rear dots stay pale and quiet, letting the front sight do the talking.
Built to Take a Beating
These are CNC-machined steel with a Black Nitride finish that shrugs off rust and wear better than a standard black oxide coating, so sweaty summer carry and humid days won't chew them up. The quench-polish-quench treatment hardens the surface to hold up to drops and hard use. XS backs the tritium with a 12-year warranty, and the vials are rated to glow that long.
Easy Install on Your VP9 OR
The EasyPress dovetail design cuts the force needed for installation by roughly half, thanks to a built-in lead-in edge and crush zone. No filing, no beating on them with a punch. Plenty of folks handle this one at home with a basic sight pusher, though a proper tool always makes centering the rear easier. This standard height set is a direct replacement for your factory VP9 OR irons rather than a co-witness setup.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will these R3D 2.0 sights fit my HK VP9 OR?
Yes, this standard height set is cut for the HK VP9 OR and also fits the VP9, P30, 45, and 45C. Keep in mind these are a standard height replacement for your factory irons, not a suppressor height or co-witness setup for use with a red dot. If you're running an optic and want backup irons that co-witness, you'd want the suppressor height version instead.
Can I install the R3D 2.0 sights myself?
A lot of people do. XS built these with their EasyPress dovetail, which uses a lead-in edge and crush zone to cut the installation force by around half, so there's no filing or hammering required. A sight pusher tool still makes life easier, especially when centering the rear sight, but the design is friendly for DIY at home.
Why choose green over the orange Glow Dot?
Green tends to be the go-to for folks running iron sights as their primary aiming system. It reads bright and almost reflex-dot-like in daylight while still glowing well as light fades. Orange sometimes edges it out for pure daylight contrast, but green is often described as the best of both worlds for day and night use.
How long will the tritium last on these night sights?
The tritium vials are rated to glow for up to 12 years, and XS backs them with a 12-year warranty. The front sight also uses a photoluminescent Glow Dot that charges off ambient light or a quick hit from a flashlight, so you get illumination even beyond just the tritium.
