There are lightweight rifles, and then there are rifles built from the ground up to disappear on your shoulder at 10,000 feet. The Mark V Backcountry Guide Ti sits firmly in the second camp. Weatherby started with their proven six-lug Mark V action, machined it from titanium to shave weight the steel version simply can't, then wrapped a 416R stainless barrel in BSF carbon fiber. The result is a series that starts at 5.1 pounds bare, which means even with a scope and sling you're carrying less than most rifles weigh out of the box.
The Guide models run trimmer barrels than the rest of the Backcountry line on purpose. The 22 inch tube keeps the rifle quick in dark timber and a lot friendlier when you spin a suppressor onto the 5/8-24 threads. Out of the box it wears Weatherby's Accubrake ST, which takes real bite out of recoil, and the 3DHex recoil pad soaks up what's left. A spiral-fluted bolt, oversized fluted handle, and an adjustable TriggerTech trigger round out the working parts, and every rifle carries Weatherby's sub-MOA three-shot guarantee.

The 25 WBY RPM is Weatherby's modern quarter-bore, built on a rebated case with a fast 1:7.5 twist so it can stabilize heavy, high-BC bullets that older .25s can't handle. It pushes a 133 grain bullet around 3,000 fps. The .257 Wby Mag is a touch faster with light bullets, but its slow twist limits it to lighter projectiles, so at longer ranges the 25 RPM can shoot flatter and buck wind better. It also fits the smaller six-lug action, which keeps this rifle lighter.
