Instead of pouring loose powder or dropping pellets down the bore, you seat your bullet from the muzzle, then drop a FireStick encapsulated charge in from the breech and cap it with a 209 primer. The charge is sealed in polymer, so a rainy morning in the stand does not mean second-guessing whether your powder stayed dry. When the day is over, pull the FireStick out and the rifle is unloaded. No discharge shot, no puller, no hassle.
The 26 inch Chromoly steel barrel is fluted and tapered to trim weight, and it carries a 1:24 VAPR twist instead of the usual 1:28 you find on most inlines. That quicker rate does a better job stabilizing long, high BC bullets, which means tighter groups and a wider range of projectiles that will shoot well out of this gun. The Premium Cerakote finish over the barrel and receiver shrugs off moisture and scratches, and the fixed Mossy Oak Break-Up Country synthetic stock keeps the whole package quiet and weatherproof in the deer woods.
This package includes a 3-9×40 duplex scope that is mounted and boresighted by a factory-trained technician, so all that is left is fine-tuning zero with your chosen bullet and charge. There are no iron sights on this model, but the receiver is drilled and tapped if you ever want to change your optic setup. The Elite XT trigger system rounds things out with a crisp, clean break plus a rebounding hammer and cross block trigger safety, exactly what you want when a buck steps out and you get one shot to make it count. At 42 inches overall, the NitroFire VAPR carries easily and handles quick in tight cover.
No, and that is the whole point of this rifle. The NitroFire runs exclusively on Federal Premium FireStick encapsulated charges, which load from the breech after you seat the bullet from the muzzle. The sealed polymer charge keeps the Hodgdon powder dry and delivers a consistent charge every time, and it will not accept loose powder or pellets.
It comes mounted and boresighted by a factory-trained technician, which gets you on paper. You will still want a range session to dial in a true zero with the exact bullet and FireStick charge you plan to hunt with. Plan on a box of bullets and an afternoon and you will be set.
Most inline muzzleloaders run a 1:28 twist, and the faster 1:24 VAPR rate stabilizes longer, higher BC bullets more effectively. That translates to better accuracy at hunting distances and a wider selection of modern projectiles that shoot well from this barrel. It is a real advantage if you like stretching your muzzleloader out past typical woods ranges.
Break the action open, remove the primer, and pull the FireStick charge out of the breech. Once the charge is out, the rifle is no longer loaded even with a bullet still seated in the bore, which is a big convenience compared to traditional muzzleloaders that require firing or pulling the load.
