Pro-Shot has been making cleaning gear in the USA since 1982, and these 2.25 inch square patches are a good example of why the brand shows up in so many range bags. They are cut from 100% cotton flannel that is napped on both sides, which gives you a soft, thirsty surface that soaks up solvent and carries carbon and copper fouling straight out of the barrel. The tight, high thread count weave holds together as it passes the crown and rifling, so you spend less time fishing shredded fabric out of your bore.
This size covers a wide swath of the handgun world, working with .357, .380, .38, 9mm, .40, 10mm, .41, .44, and .45 caliber bores. On the shotgun side, they handle .410 up through 20 gauge. Run them on a jag for a snug pass or fold them onto a slotted tip when you want a looser swab to spread oil or wipe down a chamber. If you want a tighter fit, a lot of folks drop down a caliber on their jag to dial in the resistance.
There is a reason double-napped cotton flannel is the standard for barrel work. It grabs fouling and residue without the abrasive contact that can wear on your rifling over time, and it plays nice with just about any solvent, oil, or CLP you already keep on the bench. Staying on top of regular cleaning keeps metal fouling from building on itself, which is the kind of thing that slowly opens up group sizes and throws the occasional flyer.
At 250 patches per bag, this is a supply that lasts. Cleaning burns through more patches than most people expect since you toss each one after a pass, so buying in bulk keeps you from running short. The resealable zipper-top bag keeps the stack clean and lint-free between sessions and travels well in a range box or truck kit.
These 2.25 inch square patches are sized for .357, .380, .38, 9mm, .40, 10mm, .41, .44, and .45 caliber handguns. On the shotgun side they cover .410 up through 20 gauge. That range makes them a handy one-bag solution if you own a mix of pistols and smaller-bore shotguns.
Both work fine. A jag gives you a snug, wrapped fit for pulling fouling through the bore, while a slotted or looped tip gives a looser pass that is great for spreading solvent or wiping down a chamber. If the fit feels too tight or too loose on your jag, dropping down a caliber size is a common trick to fine-tune it.
Yes. The 100% cotton flannel handles standard bore solvents, oils, CLPs, and harsher cleaning chemicals without breaking down. The material is also gentle on rifling, so you get thorough cleaning without extra abrasive contact against the barrel.
That depends on how often you shoot and clean, but it is a solid stockpile for most owners. Cleaning goes through patches faster than people expect since you toss each one after a single pass through the bore. Buying the 250-count keeps you from running dry in the middle of a session.
